4 Locks That are very hard to be Picked

Unfortunately, nearly every lock out there is capable of being picked some way or another. But don’t let this discourage you in your search for a high-quality lock to keep your home and valuables protected. The trick is simply to find locks that are the hardest to pick.

Most intruders will not take a lot of time and energy picking a lock before they move on. So, if the locks you have are particularly difficult to pick, the intruder is likely to move on.

Below you will find four different kinds of locks that are basically incapable of being picked.

1. Half Deadbolts

Half deadbolt locks are an excellent type of lock that basically go undetected by intruders. This is because the half dead bolt lock contains NO keyhole! From the outside of the door you would never even know there was a deadbolt to begin with, making it virtually impossible for an intruder to pick, let alone find. However, these particular locks are not easy to install, they require quite a bit of background knowledge, so it is often best to hire a reputable locksmith to install the half deadbolt correctly.

2. Pick Proof an Existing Lock

Currently, there is a really interesting product on the market that can be installed to virtually any lock making it completely pick proof. Basically, this lock add-on is a medal piece that encases the inside thumbpiece of a deadbolt lock. This holds the twistable thumbpiece in place making it impossible to twist the deadbolt open. When you want to open the deadbolt lock from the inside all you have to do is simply open the add-on piece and turn your deadbolt.

3. High Security Locks

Locks are relatively simple tools that work primarily in the same way across several different types. High security locks however are designed completely different making all regular ways of lock picking impossible. The keys that accompany these locks are also very different from traditional keys which means that all of the standard lock picking tools become useless when set up against these types of locks.

4. Smart Locks

With the presence of smartphones and our ever-increasing world of technology, basically everything in our world is becoming “smart” including our locks. Smart locks completely destroy all the traditional methods that lock pickers use and they give complete control to the owner of the lock from virtually anywhere they are in the world. Many of these smart locks are battery operated and linked to your smartphone through an app. The app allows you to unlock and lock your door with a tap of your screen.
